What is the best known designer frames for prescription glasses?

I am looking for new frames for prescription glasses (not sunglasses) for a 13 year old girl. I want to choose a brand that is "in" – something that is upscale, prestigious and well known. The price must be U.S. $ 500 or less. Thank you. In a side note, what you guys think of the brand "Lafont? Is it in the same league as D & G, Prada and Bvlgari, or am I totally off base?

D & G made the glasses and make DKNY, Prada, Burberry, Bvlgari and Versace. Armani Exchange is also glasses.
