Made Japan

What made Japan take Korea since Korea was more advanced?
Hundreds of years ago Korea was more advanced than Japan, the Koreans have rocket launches, vessels of turtles and other more advanced stuff. So why Japan could take to advance and conquer Korea? What happened, did they win a battle in particular?
Korea has the misfortune to be alongside China, who conquered the place fairly regularly. Korea would re-emerge as an independent country when China was weak. In the late 19th century the Chinese gov't has been particularly busy week and was trying to fight against the Western powers who took advantage of his weakness. Japan has been newly industrialized and has also benefited from the weakness of China to Korea for NAB itself. Use this as a starting point for your search. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eulsa_Treaty

Made by Hand
$15.99 From his unique vantage point as editor-in-chief of Make magazine, the hub of the do-it-yourself movement, Mark Frauenfelder takes readers on an inspiring and surprising tour of the vibrant world of DIY. All in one delicious book called Made by Hand. Frauenfelder spent a year trying a variety of offbeat projects such as keeping chickens and bees, tricking out his espresso machine, whittling wooden spoons, making guitars out of cigar boxes, and doing citizen science with his daughters in the garage. His whole family found that DIY helped them take control of their lives, offering deeply satisfying alternatives for spending time together. Working with their hands and minds helped them feel more engaged with the world around them. Frauenfelder also profiles fascinating "alpha makers" leading various DIY movements and grills them for their best tips and insights. He offers a unique perspective on how earning a few calluses can be far more rewarding than another trip to the mall. Made by Hand is an adventure in DIY from the best dang DIYers out there. Mr. Frauenfelder - we salute ye! Seriously though, kids - this is a great book. You'll thank yourself for getting it. And just so you don't complain, we know Mark isn't the one who wears goggles and a red cape. But we're guessing the one who does likes this book, too! |

Moondance
$5.67 Van Morrison went a long way towards defining his wild Irish heart with his first two classic albums: the brooding, introspective Astral Weeks (1968), and the expansive, swinging Moondance. If the first was the work of a poet, its sequel was the statement of a musician and bandleader. Moondance is that rare rock album where the band has buffed the arrangements to perfection, and where the sax solo... |
