Any suggestions for a day and a half at South Rim of the Grand Canyon?

My family is driving cross-country skiing at Lake Powell for a trip to a barge. We have allocated approximately one and a half to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We'll probably camp there. Any proposed routes for the moment we have? We know we will not see any. Is it realistic to descend into the Canyon and back with this kind of weather?

The towers can be quite expensive (30 $ Per person). Just driving to the views yourself, anything you do not have access info is a little history. So here's a map of the village http://www.scenic.com/acc_img/scenic/ima … On the corner at the bottom right where you see "at the southern entrance / Tusayan / Flagstaff, which is the access road entering the park. to get to the rim to the east of where it will be your first right turn when you enter the park. This access road is long (one to four years consecutive miles). It'll be the first right you can do. When you travel along to Desert Drive is the rim. There are quite a few views that you can stop at this road trip and just stop at one that strikes you the most. Something else you can do is jump on the shuttle bus. They are all over the park. If the Rangers are at the park entrance when you arrive, they will give you a card bus shuttle. The shuttle bus drivers are very helpful, and they will give you a free tour! I suggest Hermits Rest RD for the best views of the canyon. You can see the river very well and have a panoramic view of the canyon. There are only a shuttle box. It is a path that is 8 miles from the page, but you can up and down the shuttle bus several stops en route. It is part of the red route. There are a couple of day hikes interim I recommend. The giving you the best view is down the South Kaibab Trail to a place called Cedar Ridge. From this walk you get a panoramic view of the canyon you will cut breath and make some nice pictures. Only about a 3 mile trip around the canyon. Will you take up to two hours. I see old ladies do, so do not worry! Most people who visit the canyon never go inside of it, which is really the best part. Do not miss it! Ask any guards or employees of the Park How to get to the edge of the South Kaibab Trail, and they will tell you. It is accessible by shuttle bus (which is free) only. Also, you may want to check the Grand Canyon Imax is located in a town called Tusayan which located just outside the park entrance. This is the most watched film in Imax the world. It's a really good movie, I saw him twice. It is 34 minutes and plays every hour on the hour and half. Also, take a walk or shuttle run along Hermit's Rest road. You get great views over the river Colorado, and is an ideal place to watch the sunset. Hopi Point is probably the only best place along this road in terms of views of the canyon, but they are all amazing. There are gift shops at the top with a large stone fireplace made of material from the Canyon and a snack bar. If you're into history, learn the El Tovar Hotel, which is a 100 + year old historic hotel located on the edge of the canyon. This is the hotel that Chevy Chase stopped During the course of the holiday film. When you're here there is a dining room that has great food and a beautiful view! In addition, some buildings, there is the Bright Angel Hotel which has a fountain of ice onto the rim, and a hall of history, a casual restaurant and coffee shop.
