Gray Tinted

To paint a dark red wall and I use a primer gray or red primer?

I'll paint the bottom half of a room dark red (Satin Color Accent – Latex) and need advice. I read other responses "like" here and both seem credible. Some say that using primer gray and others say that using primer tinted red (the same as red you use). I would like further advice anyone can give me. It would be very appreciated. Oh, and I knew red was difficult to describe, but chose to anyway. LOL.

When painting is the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) or any color really dark, it is always preferable to use a tinted primer. The best solution is to use a primer tinted to match your paint, reducing and the down on the number of layers you need and savings of $ $ $. Since you are red paint, definitely go with the primer colored red. I only use gray primer when painting in black, charcoal gray or black. Red is not difficult to paint if you use the primer stained red! Enjoy your new living room!
