How to remove the musty smell of old wood and glass housing?

The case has a drawer at the bottom and a window on top and if money sterling or plate is stored it will pitt.

I have not tried it yet, but according to Martha Stewart, a bowl of white vinegar left in the area enclosed for a few days neutralizes musty odors.
